    Hello,

Am getting hundreds of ‘WordPress core file modified’ results in the scan, but clicking ‘View Differences’ goes through to a page that says ‘There are no differences between the original file and the file in the repository.’

I’ve downloaded some test files and diff’d them with the repository files, and there is indeed no difference.

Have reinstalled WordPress ( version 6.2 ) to be sure, and rescanned – but am getting the same false positives.

Clicking ‘repair all repairable files’ removes about 20 results, but not all.

This seems to be most files in the root of wp-includes and wp-includes/js/dist/

    Thanks,

    Ian.

Hi @ianatkins, thanks for reaching out to us about this.

There is a chance that cases such as this are seeing files that should’ve been cleared with WordPress updates but weren’t. Sometimes this can happen due to file permissions or the update process is interrupted or fails in some way. That could also explain why the files aren’t different to known versions of the same files when compared manually, but are still being flagged – because they should no longer be in the version you’ve upgraded to.

If there are too many, or you’re not fully comfortable with taking a full site backup and removing them manually at this point, by all means drop us a site diagnostic so we can take a look at them in your “scan issues” section. You can send that to us at wftest @ wordfence . com directly using the link at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi @wfpeter,

There’s too many files, and they definitely part of core WordPress.

    Have sent the diagnostic report.

    Thanks,

    Ian.
