WordPress Crashed after update

I’m hoping you have a backup before the upgrade? If so, reload the backup and then you can try updating again.

You could also create a test install with a copy of your site’s data on a separate domain or a subdomain of your current domain and try updating that way and in the future to make sure things don’t break on your live site.

I don’t have a backup of my site. I can make a database backup anyway (i can access the admin panel).

Hope you guys know what’s causing this.

I saw the same issue except my entire site is down, admin too. You can rollback on a WP version easily by going to

https://www.ads-software.com/download/release-archive/

Select the version you want, unzip it and then using an FTP app like FileZilla, overwrite the wp-admin and wp-includes folder and also all the root files (except wp-config) with the newly unzipped version files.

This will get you back to the version you selected without affecting your themes, plugins etc.

I’ve done this loads of times through the years when I make a mess of things.

No! That will not work if the database has also been upgraded.

Ah yes, I forgot about the db upgrade. Apologies for the misleading suggestion.

You would first have to restore a pre-upgrade database backup, then upload the relevant version of WordPress that matches your database version.

Try:
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

– re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

– running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

I switched to Twenty Eleven by admin panel. This theme seems to be causing no problem. So it’s a theme problem here.

I hope someone can help. I just tried to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress and it hung.
Now all I can get is;

“Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp() in /home/CPANEL_USERNAME/public_html/wp-blog-header.php on line 14”

Is there anything I can do to get back to where I was before I tried to upgrade?

I was just about to install a backup plugin – please tell me that my work is not gone forever.

I know I’m really dumb for asking this, but why can’t the WordPress install system first look to see if there is enough space, stop if there isn’t and otherwise make a backup of anything needed to get the site back up again? I’m sure WordPress’ tech people are sick of dealing with this issue, so what is so hard about implementing what I just suggested?
