    Hi,

I noticed that WordPress created upload folders for years still to come, which I found kind of strange.
I have not yet checked is it was a plugin doing this, or a server configuration that might be the cause of this. I dropped the same question with my hosting provider. But also wanted to drop it here.

As you can see folders with years and dates are creates beyond the current year. And I find this a little strange.

    Root of wp-uploads

    Example inside 2032

All the month folders have also been created.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • A few things to check – are you able to test on a staging server?

    1. Temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-Four.
    2. Deactivate all plugins.
    3. Check if new future-dated folders are still being created.
    4. If the issue stops, reactivate plugins and theme one by one to identify the culprit.

This happend on totally different themes, with different set of plugins. So this would take a while. But every time it creates folders up-to 2032. So that is the same across al sites that I noticed this (at the same provider).

So this could be a plugin issue. As the theme’s are totally different en this is still happening, or, as I said a hosting issue. I have not heard back from them. But I’ll give it a try on a staging environment.

    Thanks

My hunch is that it’s a plugin issue (i’ve never heard of this happening before). Let me know what you find. (and good luck)

It looks like it is caused by a thumbnail regeneration plugin or wp-rocket. I’ll test it further tomorrow.
