I was writing up a new post on the wordpress dashboard when my router did a reset (might be a coincidence). Once I came back to the dashboard it was all messed up and without any CSS. I replaced the wp-admin and wp-includes folders with fresh ones from a brand new downloaded version of wordpress. I also did that with all the files in the /public_html directory and then re-input the settings into wp-config.php etc. I ended up finding somewhere a snippet of code that I then added into wp-config.php that fixed the css formatting… define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false); … was the code. I then went back into my dashboard but now a lot of the buttons seem to not work. When I click the edit button under a post it tries to load, then does nothing. My address bar says the right address (https://www.blogname.com/wp-admin/edit.php) but it stays on the posts page. I then tried to change back to a standard wordpress theme, I can get to the themes page, but when I try to press the activate button the same thing happens, the address bar is correct but the page goes no where and doesn’t activate anything.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, I also tried taking the define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false); code out, and the dashboard css breaks again and I still can’t get to the edit post page.

Thanks for the reply. Has anybody been able to get any response or anything from them?

Should I be reading another post somewhere? I couldn’t find one.

That sounds like Javascript issues. Give this Codex article a read about how to enable js debugging on your browser.

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors

Try the usual troubleshooting 101 steps. These are temporary steps and you can undo them afterwards.

    – Switch to the Twenty Thirteen theme

    – Deactivate all of your plugins

    – Clear your browser’s cache and cookies

    – Login to your WordPress installation and see if the dashboard is now behaving.

Last night. Huh. What browser and version are you using?

Yeah, there’s a few threads going on the same thing. I just bumped one to the top. Crazy Domains will never admit any fault on their part, but we suspect their server has been compromised somehow, either hacked or ballsed up by them.

I missed that part. What’s your URL?

    GregR71

    (@gregr71)

It’s not the browser or my computers, as I cleared caches etc. Tried from a pc and my ipad, on Chrome and I.E.. Same problem in all instances. Chrome was a fresh install on my ipad just to see.

I just bumped one to the top.

Yeah. Don’t do that. Really do not. It doesn’t help to have multiple conversations and when you inject like that you aren’t helping.

*Drinks more coffee, sees answer to URL question right in front or me before my eyes on the original post…*

So when I visited your URL https://www.oattblog.com/ I got the “Install WordPress” page. Are you making changes?

The other mod told me to open my own thread, so i did. So there are 3 threads on the same problem. When i post in one, it goes to the top again. I’m not bumping for the sake of it. I had already posted (resulting in the bump to the top) before I replied here about bumping. Make sense?

The idea is to create your own thread to discuss your own issue, even if it is the same, so that threads can be focused on providing support for the original poster’s problem.

Sure you are. Don’t do that. Really.

Ok, so I know its not my browser or computer. I have tried it on Safari on my MAC, Chrome on my husbands MAC, Chrome and Firefox on our windows PC.
Yes I was in the middle of doing a complete reinstall of wordpress. But instead of using the installatron on the crazy domains control Panel I am doing a manual install creating my own database. Except now I am getting the same problem on the Install page for wordpress. The address bar goes to step 2 but my computer just reloads the same page and nothing happens. Jan I tried all of your steps and more.
I was suspecting something to do with the Host. I even reset my modem and router to defaults.
