    Hi,

I have been using wordpress 3.3.2 for a while and all of a sudden, my dashboard is not working properly. When I hover over the menu options on the left, like on “Appearance” I don’t have a submenu popup like before. Also when I’m in the widgets section, The widget area will not expand or collapse when I click on the arrow. I can’t drag in or out any widgets to the widget area. All the wordpress editing functions and features are buggy!

I thought it was a browser issue, but this issue is happening across 3 different browsers. Then I upgraded to version 3.4.1 thinking it would help, but it hasn’t done anything different. I haven’t done anything different lately that would have suggested the cause for all these issues.

My site looks fine. Nothing’s changed on the front end.

PS: I’ve always connected Windows Live Writer to my self hosted blog and then Publish posts via Live Writer. Not sure if that means anything but just putting it out there.

    Please help?

    Thanks in advance,
    Susan

  • Try: use the update theme function in WLW.

    Also, clear your browser cache.

Please provide a site link so we can look for any obvious (to us) reasons.

Note: If you did an auto-update to WP3.4.1, it may have failed…yes, each time on same server- did you?

Hi I’ve done what you requested. This problem still persists
    my domain is https://www.snobaffair.com

I also have WordPress installed in a directory of snobaffair.com (snobaffair.com/elemin)and the dashboard works fine. My main domain’s dashboard is just troublesome!

    Hi,
on the second install snobaffair.com/elemin please verify if you have the same plugins active and the same theme, if you do, check the versions of the plugins and of the theme.
You can use inspect mode (chrome has it if you right click on your dashboard then hit inspect elemnt) and see if you have any javascript/jquery files with errors for that go to inspect element using chrome then go to Resources -> expand index.php (if you are on the first dashboard page) expand Scripts and see if you have any errors highlighted -> chrome will display the error number in the right hand part of the script file name.
Check all this and let us know how things are.
    Regards

    Hi jnhghy,

    Thanks for giving clear instructions

    I have 2 script errors:
Here are the print screens for them
    https://snobaffair.com/images/error1.JPG
    https://snobaffair.com/images/error2.JPG

I do have the same theme installed. I have more plugins on my main domain because the second install is just used as a dummy for testing purposes before I implement them on my main domain.

I didn’t have the habit to update my plugins until I had this problem. I updated them thinking that it was the cause of the problem, but that didn’t fix anything

Let me know what else other info i can give you.

    Regards,

I’m guessing that the error is caused by nextgen plugin (you are using it right?) I see that the latest version of it is 1.9.6 updates 2012-08-21 and it requires wordpress 3.4 or higher.
At this point make sure you have the latest version of your plugins, latest version of wordpress if you already have this, reinstall wp-admin (you download the wordpress files and directories from here unzip ftp and overwrite wp-admin).
    Hopefully this will do it.
