    Hi,

    I’m looking for help to understand why my dashboard and status reports don’t agree about latest theme version and latest WordPress version, also WordPress News confirms that there is a 5.9.2 so thinking I am out of date. Thanks in advance.

    Looking at dashboard > updates it is telling me all is fine and up to date – checked today:

    My question is, if I have purged cache and don’t have any caching plugins, should this status in the Updates section be always correct/current?

    If WordPress is not up to date and I don’t have an update option, what is best way to resolve? Should I be asking my host about their server cache?

    This isn’t a Woocommerce question but looking at Woocommerce status report, it agrees that I’m not up to date:

  • Check in the list of your plugins if you have a plugin that can control updates. E.g. one from this list: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/tags/disable-updates/

    Maybe you also have entries in the wp-config.php or functions.php of your theme.

    Also check if under Tools > Site Health any anomaly is mentioned.

    wpscan agrees:

    [+] WordPress version 5.9.1 identified (Insecure, released on 2022-02-22).

    You should be at 5.9.2 now. From DASHBOARD -> UPDATES, click the “reinstall” button.

    Thanks both for speedy replies, will follow up.

    @threadi,
    Maybe you also have entries in the wp-config.php or functions.php of your theme.
    -What sort of entries should I look for, sorry if rookie question?

    -Will try to resolve these site health issues as well..

    -I don’t have any of these:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/tags/disable-updates/

    Take a look at the “schedules event”-failed-message in the Site Health. Possibly it is the query for the latest WP-update. If it is this, you would have to look what is indicated there as cause.

    In the two files I mentioned there should be an entry like

    define( 'WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE', false );

    should be included.

    Thanks,

    -Used re-install button on Updates page: https://snipboard.io/nOyGxN.jpg
    ..but still 5.9.1 after.

    @threadi
    -Used mscode to view functions.php and search for ‘WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE’, no results. Searched for ‘wp-config.php’ in whole theme folder with windows explorer, no file found.

    -I agree about the schedules event failed msg being possible cause:
    A scheduled event is late
    Performance
    The scheduled event, mm_cron_hourly, is late to run. Your site still works, but this may indicate that scheduling posts or automated updates may not work as intended.

    -Will try to remove all pages/plugins not in use, not sure about unused themes as I only installed one..

    These are active plugins:
    ‘Classic Editor|Version 1.6.2
    Contact Form 7
    Elementor
    Jetpack Version 10.7
    JustTables – WooCommerce Product Table
    MailPoet 3 (New)
    Mega Main Menu Version 2.1.7
    One Click Demo Import Version 3.0.2
    Snowlake Common Version 1.0
    Snowlake Elementor Version 1.0.0
    SVG Support Version 2.3.18
    Swatchly – Variation Swatches for WooCommerce Products Version 1.1.2
    Widget Importer & Exporter Version 1.6
    WooCommerce Version 6.3.1
    WooCommerce Payments Version 3.9.2
    WooCommerce PayPal Payments Version 1.7.0
    WP Maximum Execution Time Exceeded Version 1.0.3’

    They all say auto-updates disabled, will turn auto-updates on..

    You’ll find the file wp-config.php in the root-directory of your WordPress-Installation, not in any subfolder.

    If you don’t find an entry in the file and deactivating the plugins doesn’t lead to success, I would recommend you to contact your hoster because the cause could be a limitation by them.

    Thanks both for your time. Battled with it for a while. In the end I deleted site in cpanel and reinstalled wordpress. Snowlake theme was last updated in 2020 and never got a reply. Going with Generatepress.

    Learnt a lot, so thanks.

    Bw,
    Ben
