• We recently updated a bunch of plugins and patched security holes in our WordPress website.

Before updating, we created a backup with the “All in One WP Migration” plugin for security reasons, which went off without a hitch.

Now, after the update, we suddenly get an advisory from WordPress “discouraging” the “All in One WP Migration” plugin. After checking out the authors plugin support site, there seems to be no issue with this plugin or any other reason, why this otherwise perfectly well working website should be disabled or even uninstalled.

Could anyone help or give some sort of explanation for the above behavior of WordPress?

    Thanks in advance.

www.ads-software.com does not have any mechanism to either send emails like that, or in fact know that you using the plugin. It is possible another plugin on your system may have sent that email, claiming to be from WordPress. You should examine the email headers and determine more specifically where the email came from. Because it didn’t come from www.ads-software.com.

Hi again and thanks to both of you for getting back.

My apologies, you are correct. It’s not an e-mail but an advisory from another plugin that shows in the WordPress menu.

We use one.com as our ISP and the plugin is an additional service- & security feature of that company, which can be added to WordPress.

    It looks like this…

The page, that designates the use of the “All in one WP Migration” plugin as “discouraging” is the item in the bottom of the menu list called “Plugins”. When clicked, it first shows the plugins that one.com uses on the site, then the “Recommended plugins” and then the “Discouraged Plugins”. The latter contains the advisory for the “All in one WP Migration” plugin.

Does anyone know the reason for this suggestion?

    Thanks again for helping out.

    Thanks for that explanation.

You would have to ask your ISP or whoever is responsible for that page.
