wordpress displaying IP as link address

  • Hey All,

    I’m hosting a website on my apache server via port 8070 (can’t use 80 for specific reasons) and the domain is forwarded to this IP address on port 8070. In wordpress, I have to set the URLs to the IP…if I set it to the actual domain name https://www.example.com… the page wont load. Setting it to the IP works but when you hover over a link on my page the ip is displayed in the status bar via:

    xx.xxx.xxx.xx:8070/?p=12

    and i would rather it have the URL of the domain…

    How do i fix this? I can’t adjust the A_record on the domain cause it wont let me forward the site to 8070. So i have to forward it.

    Ideas?

  • Good question !

    Regarding the current permalink solution, you can only change the url right after your sever address. If the port number is not showing in your URL, 80 will be set as default.

    So one solution is to make a port forwarding, if port 80 is reachable from you ISP.

    If not, you can try webhops redirection, a service provided by dyndns.

    Considering on a long term, I suggest strongly hosting your site by a pro web hosting service.
