• Hi,
Until recently I used Internet Explorer to post items on my WordPress site. Whenever I typed an e-mail address, WordPress would recognize it as such and automatically turn it into a “mailto” link. But that’s not the case with Google Chrome. With that browser, I have to manually highlight the e-mail address, click the ‘link’ icon, and type “mailto:” and the e-mail address inside.

Any clever people there know a way to automate the process on Google Chrome?
Thanks VERY much for your help. This is a petty but annoying problem for me.

    Scott

  • That is pretty strange but I can confirm it happens with a new post or Page – Chrome does not see it as a email address in the editor.

Thanks for the confirmation, kmessinger. Have you by chance discovered a solution? Obviously noone else has weighed in on my question!
    Thanks.

No, but I wasn’t looking for one :^)
I only checked Chrome last month but in checking FF today found it does the same. IE is ok and changes an email address correctly but only in the visual editor.

I use IE most of the time so never noticed. It has to be some sort of javascript problem. You might check the web and https://www.tinymce.com/

Ha! Very interesting findings. Thanks for the tip. If only I was a programmer and understood these things!
