I just got an email from [email protected] saying congratulations your new wordpress site has been set up at localhost:8888. It also shows my username and password? The password is actually displayed in the email. This password is used on my local system but not my external system but I am wondering where this email came from. Should I be concerned about being hacked?

    Thanks

BTW, my local copy runs on MAC OS X 10.8.5 with MAMP so I am not sure how I got the email or why I got it.

  • That email seems to have been sent from your local install.

Thanks, I was hoping that was the case but when I first saw it pop up, I was not sure what to make of it. It had a sent date of October 15th which is about when I installed it on the MAC OS. I had been using WAMP on the Windows 7 side of Macbook since I am new to Mac and I still have a couple of programs that have to run on Windows. So I just moved my WAMP files from the HP Windows Vista laptop to the MAC side and used WAMP for a while. I think the email must have moved into the spam folder or maybe that is where it went on the 15th and it was reminding me of it. I don’t know but I was not expecting it since I had not messed with it in the last few days. I have now deleted the email since I don’t need it.

    Thank you for the response.
