I think a lot of that negativity is spawned by individuals who think that everything has a point and click solution, or a plugin solution. (I sometimes wonder if those of us who realize that everything has a learning curve, are now in the minority) and when they discover that they actually may have to sit down and read the directions, or they can’t bypass that and have someone just give them what they want immediately and exactly as they perceive it should be by posting in a “forum”, well it upsets them. Sometimes, those who don’t get what they want find it easier to piss and moan and stamp their feet instead of taking responsibility for what they got them selves into. I blame that on the instant gratification mentality that our culture blasts us with on a daily basis.
I agree, I’ve seen some downright rude replies to people from moderators and most questions go unanswered.
I want you to understand, that I respect your right to feel as you do, and I appreciate the freedom in which you have the right to express those thoughts. In no way, do I wish to diminish the importance of that.
That being said, I have seen some of the most amazingly stupid, lazy, self centered and unwarranted attitudes from people who post questions and then expect that it’s everyone elses responsibility for their problems if they don’t get what they want. After all, that’s what a forum is for, right?
…And yet I can easily think of several contributors who regularly go way out of their way – several of them moderators -, to do everything they can to get to a solution… even when often times, it really has nothing to do with a “WordPress” issue, yet they do it so someone else can in the end, enjoy using WordPress. So there are the two sides of the same coin. As is true with any issue. By the way, you can reduce those statistics (downright rude replies to people from moderators and most questions go unanswered) by sticking around and imparting your knowledge to others if you like.

If that is true, then I implore you to increase the size of your “control group” by spending a little more time on the web.
