WordPress Functionality

  • I am looking for something to enable me to quickly update the status of something that I want on my home page.
    For example I have some text that depicts the current status of the golf course condition. i.e. It may be fully open with trolleys and buggies etc.

    On the other hand if there has been a lot of rain there may be no buggies or in some cases no trolleys either.

    In bad weather the Cours may be close or only some of the holes open etc etc.

    Is there an easy way to have this updatable so one of the green staff who has internet access for instance does not have to go into WordPress to update the content. Is there a widget, database method or something I am unaware about that simplifies the updating of something simple that I want to appear on my home page.

  • Perhaps you could simply set up the feature “Post via email”? It’s under Settings – Writing. You’ll need to set up a special e-mail address for this. Make it a really strange, unguessable e-mail, because anything received to this address will be automatically posted.
    You’ll need to enter the connection details for this special e-mail account, and then WordPress will regularily check this mailbox for new posts.

    Alternative: Install Jetpack and let them post via iOS or Android app.
