  • The one from episenhauer is running fine on my site. You might want to make sure and actually deactivate, then delete your current plugin. Also, make sure there is nothing in the cache folder before you install the “episenhauer” plugin. I don’t know if you’ve found this yet, but there is more posted here:

    Broken WordPress Hit Counter Issue

I have read that article, and I have just tried the plugin (episenhauer) on one of my site. It worked fine until I opened the plugin’s option screen (dashboard > settings > hit counter).

Everytime I open the option screen, it always ended with “Connection Timed Out” and then… I no longer can access the site (or the wp-admin).

The situation could be resolved by changing my IP address, but the same problem would occur whenever I tried to open the option screen again.

Sorry It took so long to reply!!

I can tell you that I’ve checked my site and changed settings on the hit counter options screen on my site with no troubles ( the episenhauer version ).

There is two things I can think of:

    1. You have another plugin conflicting with the hit counter. Maybe try disabling all plugins EXCEPT the hit counter and see if the problem persists.

    2. Your web server or PHP has a setting the hit counter isn’t liking. You might want to ask the support desk for your web host for help.

If I think of anything else, I’ll post it ASAP!

Well I actually have given up on using the plug-in, but let’s keep it up to find the solution…

I have tried the first solution before, but it doesn’t fix the problem. Therefore I will try the second solution.

    Thanks for replying.
