• I was apalled to download the #1 link when searching for a counter plug-in, and have it put a gambling blogroll on my client’s site. Words can’t begin to describe what a complete meltdown this was for me. Maybe I am naive, but in two years of developing web sites with WordPress, I really thought if the plug-in was provided on www.ads-software.com that it was most likely safe, or someone would have removed it!

HERE IS THE LINK FOR THE OFFENDING PLUG-IN
    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wordpress-hit-counter/

AUTHOR OF THE PLUG IN: Gary-adam Shannon

HERE IS A DETAILED THREAD FROM MORE KNOWEDGEABLE FOLKS THAN I, AND IT HAS GONE ON FOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS NOW:

However, other than deleting the plug-in, and in WP Admin – Edit Links – deleting the Blogroll gambling link, I have no clue what else to do. I can’t remotely implement the fixes suggested in the prior link.

Wanted to at least put a warning out there, but www.ads-software.com really needs to take down this plug-in!

    Hi Allegro51

I’ve been through the code and removed offending sites that had found their way into the scripts.

Everything looks clean now and I will be posting a update soon

    Cheers
