WordPress import plugin – Failed import xml Media file
-
Hi, I am rebuilding a website. I have a main site on a server and a copy of the main site being built on a subdomain on a different server.
I tried to export media from the main site via the WordPress Import/Export built-in plugin and to import the xml file in the subdomain site through the same WordPress Import plugin. All of the images import failed and the import plugin output an “import Media failed” message for each image, followed by the name of each image.
I also changed the permissions of the new site /wp-content/uploads folder to 777 but the import still fails.
I deactivated all of the plugins and the premium theme, activating the twenty twenty WordPress theme, but the import still doesn’t work.
I imported the files via ftp in the uploads folder of the subdomain server but the images don’t appear in the WordPress Media library, I think that’s because I still need to import the xml file in WordPress to integrate the database.
I know that there could be ways to bypass the problem, like import the hole database or using a different import plugin, but I would like to understand what’s the problem.
Could you help me?
