WordPress Importer

Does anyone know what the deal is with attachments not downloading with the WordPress importer.

I am moving a blog over to a wordpress site and have nearly 100 posts with attachments. I check the box that says “Download attachments” when importing and it seems to do nothing. I have seen other people who have had similar problems but no solutions. This is quite an important feature to have as reuploading and attaching my images would be a nighmare.

I also cannot just upload the uploads folder and find a replace the location of the image in the database as the images still do not appear in the media library.
