    Hello guys,
    Can i make a upgrade of my 3.6.1 wordpress version to wordpress 4.0 in Debian 7, without changing anything?
    I really need help here, please!

    It looks like 3.6.1 is the latest available version in wheezy.

    4.0 is available in jessie(testing) or sid(unstable).

    We generally recommend against running any of the WordPress packages available in the various Linux distros. They tend to install in strange ways, as root, or using methods that don’t allow them to be updated and such.

    WordPress is built on scripts, it’s not a binary, it doesn’t need to be compiled. So all you really need from your package management system is Apache, PHP, and MySQL. If your package manager has something called “suPHP” or similar, then that is preferable as well.

    Then you can download and install the WordPress ZIP file yourself, in your own account’s directory instead of somewhere in /etc or what have you.
