• I installed and custom designed my client’s WP.org site in English, however she is a native Spanish speaker. Now that the site is finished, is there a way I can install/convert the WP to Spanish? I’m not referring to the content she’s entered, rather the WP itself.

    Thanks.

    YOu can set up WordPress in Spanish. Now the theme is a different story, and depends on if it is localized and has translations available

    Thanks! Can I convert her site to a Spanish version, or should I reinstall it in Spanish and then mover her customized theme to those files? I needed to design in English because my Spanish is limited.

    You can convert an existing site – to do so,

    1. Go to https://es.www.ads-software.com and grab the Spanish .zip corresponding to the same version as the English site you have installed. (That is, if you installed 3.3.2, you must use the Spanish 3.3.2 and not any other version.)
    2. Unzip it and find the es_ES.mo file in wp-content/languages.
    3. Copy/paste that file to wp-content/languages in your existing site. (Create the languages folder if you don’t already have one.)
    4. Edit your wp-config.php: look for the line that defines the language, and change it to define('WPLANG', 'es_ES');

    Amy, your Spanish installation was so easy, however I have a further question. My client’s WP operation is now partly in Spanish and partly in English. Any suggestions for getting her whole Dashboard and left menu into Spanish?
