WordPress in sub-directory issue
-
WordPress 3.8.1
Canvas child theme
— Canvas 5.5.2
— Framework 5.5.5Hosted at Network Solutions
The site is in a subdirectory (/wordpress1/Site development took place under a subdomain: wwwdev.siteurl.com
Once the site was ready to launch, the site was placed under the subdomain www1.siteurl.com
We want the site to sit in the /wordpress1/ subdirectory and the site address to refer to the root.
We followed the steps described in the post, Pointing your home site’s URL to a subdirectory.
After making the proper changes to the index.php and .htaccess files, we cannot change WordPress Address (URL) or the Site Address (URL) and have the site function properly.
We receive a 404 message when the WordPress Address is changed to www1.siteurl.com.
When the Site Address is changed to www1.siteurl.com, the site does not format properly. As if WordPress could not find the Canvas child theme.
The site is functional and permalinks work as expected, but the browser address field contain the sub-directory name /wordpress1/ and performance is slower that we expected.
Any ideas?
