• Hi! I’ve gotten into a pickle here. I tried to reset my password in WordPress, and I forgot to write it down. It didn’t even provide a way for me to copy and paste it anyways. So I went to login, and it wouldn’t let me log in.

    I then tried to reset password via lost password. One problem, it’s not sending the email to do so.

    I’m stuck and panicked. The launch date for my website is coming up in literally less than a week. I’ve done all this hard work and I cannot afford it to go down the drain. This is to be my living.

    How can I reset the password when it won’t even send the email to allow you to reset the password?

    Please help!

    Uh, oh. I reset the password, but now it’s not working again.

    Whenever I attempt to log in (I just reset the password), it says insecure password warning. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/insecure-password-warning-firefox?as=u&utm_source=inproduct

    It also says the password is incorrect.

    @happytobehere,

    The issue sounds like it is the web host (hoster) – You should inform them you are not getting emails and ask them to check spam filters.

    You could also mention the PHPMyAdmin method to them.

    It’s not the web host. I can get emails from others, just not from wordpress for password reset. Everything on my email works for everyone else.

    We have moved to a new web developer and the old developer who hosts the site is being difficult and not providing the login details which we need access to for updates etc along with security purposes. What are the options here?
    Thanks

    I just went through this exact same scenario. The button to reset the password did not work. The answer was call Godaddy my host for help to get in to the phpMyAdmin. After that it did take one piece of knowledge for choosing a specific drop down option. In other words it took some technical know how beyond common sense for the fields For 24 hours I have been reading these forum questions with the same issue: THE PASSWORD RESET BUTTON DOES NOT WORK Godaddy knew about this. Seems to me that “call your host” might not be a bad suggestion to reduce panic. Because being locked out of the backend of your website, the password reset button not working and getting these kinds of instructions without knowing what they mean is not helpful. Sounds like fixing the password reset issue would be key.
