• Hello everyone!

I am putting together a WordPress website LOCALLY on my Mac. I am using MAMP PRO on OSX 10.6.8.
When I try to install a THEME using “Install Themes” within WordPress, I get a screen asking for the FTP Connection Information.

I understand that I would have to enable “System Preferences->Sharing->File Sharing”, but when I do this, I get a warning saying that “Other users can access shared folders on this computer, and administrators all volumes”.

    My questions are:
    1. How safe is this? I believe this means that you are giving access to your computer on the internet as well.
    2. Is there a way to tell WordPress not to use FTP for a localhost installation and to just proceed with the update? ( since this is a testing local server ).

    Thanks for your help!
