My website ( https://www.amzshop2u.com) went off and turned blank when I add one HTML ( search box ) into Theme Function (function.php). My web hosting company , Asia Internet Hosting feedback that my website is corrupted and need to removed and reinstalled. However, I noted that my website is still up at Alexa search ( blank ). It has suggested a webmaster or web programmer to help restore the website.
How can I get back to the Word Press Log In page to do the necessary recovery / recover my website ? I have tried the possible solutions like Deactivate Theme, Disable Plugins but it did not work.

    Please advise.

    Best Regards
    Liew

Does your host not provide ftp access?

I have installed FileZilla on my computer as advised and have emailed to my hosting company on FTP connection details to configure FileZilla to connect to my site files pending their reply.

My hosting company has set up FTP connection for my site with FileZilla configured.
Please advise next course of action.

download the zipped version 1.7.4 of the theme from https://www.ads-software.com/themes/responsive/developers/ onto your computer & unzip it. open the folfer it is in & check you can see the functions.php

Open filezilla to connect to your site files and navigate to wp-content/themes/responsive rename the copy of functions.php there to old-functions.php.

drag the new version of functions.php (extracted from the zip) into the filezilla window to copy it to where the old one was.

Check whether this fixes the site.

Do I need to delete the old-functions.php after drag the new version of function.php?
But still can’t fix the site – wp log in page or my website still not appear.
What should I do now ?

It shouldnt make any difference whether you delete the old-functions.php or not. I dont like to ever delete anything, as never deleting anything means that the wrong thing cannot ever be deleted by mistake. You can delete it, but if you do it is a good idea to make a backup first.

what else have you changed since the site was working?

In your first post you said that the site broke when you edited the functions.php to add a function. You have now replaced the functions.php which would normally fix this, however you did not follow the original instructions to use ftp and first used some hosting-supplied backup & restore tools which may not have worked properly and may have broken the site, I think you may need to ask your hosting company for assistance as the tools you used are part of their system and they may be able to help you find what went wrong.

I was also suprised that my website went blank and later being informed by hosting commpany that it was corrupted for just a simple edition done/ placement of search box at functions.php.

Basically I had uploaded functions.php via the path File Manager(as Restoring Function at Backup Wizard don’t seem to work ). I tried uploaded the public_html since the functions.php is embedded in public_html since the problem was not fixed.

I had mistakenly upload mySQL Database for wrdp.sq1 after checking wp-config.php noted that wrpd.sq1 is the latest data in wp.
( Will this aggregate the problem ?)

My hosting company had earlier commented that my WordPress had been corrupted and need to be removed and reinstalled ( This is before requesting assistance from www.ads-software.com). Later, they feedback since my site files had been corrupted, their backup will be corrupted as well ( is this true ?) and need me to engage a webmaster or webprogrammer to help restore my site.

Is there any possibility to save my website ?

This sounds like a more serious problem than can be fixed by just a replacement of the functions.php. That may have fixed it if it was the first thing you tried, but the failed restores you did try may done more harm than good.

If your host cannot help restore your site to how it was before it became broken, an experienced WordPress developer may be able to repair it if they have full access to the site files, database and any backups. You may be able to find someone to do this hand-on work if you post at https://jobs.wordpress.net

There is some variations to the facts of my problem.
I realized that I had make the changes on the wrong domain : liewgoogle.com after feedback from my hosting company. Anyway, the said domain is just a working domain for me.

I managed to locate my correct domain amzshop2u.com at cPanel ( by Switch Account ) – host under one reseller account.
As my word press was reported corrupted by my host company, I have made a full backup today as the database should not be affected ( Am I correct ?)

I have then made a replacement on my functions.php ( per your previous advice ) but the problem is still can’t be fixed.

Since my word press was corrupted and required to be removed and reinstalled as advised by my hosting company, how do I go about removing the word press and replacing from the theme’s developer page if I can’t have access to the wp log in page ? Will this word press replacement has any impact on my database ?

    Your advise and assistance please.
    Thank you
