Yesterday, I attempted to login but was unable to enter the password portion. Usually, the user and password are automatically filled after an initial authentication process.

However, this time, there was a blank window where I could enter the user but there was no window where I could enter the password. The word password was there but the area below it was greyed.

Once jetpack was disabled, everything returned to normal. Are there any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

    Hi there,

If you have Jetpack’s single sign-on module active (which it appears you do), we add in a screen asking if you want to log in using WordPress.com, or using your username and password.

Clicking that button you are then redirected to the WordPress.com account login screen, which works as you describe showing first an email field, and then the password field after you enter the email.

But if you click the Username and Password option, you should get taken to the regular WordPress login page where both username and password fields are visible at the same time. Jetpack 7.9 didn’t make any changes in how this works.

Can you confirm which of those methods you tried to use to log in?

If you clicked the Log in with WordPress.com button, and it’s on the WordPress.com login screen where the password field didn’t appear, the most likely cause is a browser issue. Try clearing the browser cache, and make sure you’re not using any browser add-ons like ad-blockers or anti-tracking plugins that might be blocking JavaScript from loading on the page.

    Hi:)

I clicked the user name and password option and only the user name was visible. The issues seems to be resolved after disabling and then eventually reactivating JetPack.

    Thanks,

    M.

@kokkieh I own a web hosting business and I can confirm this issue (more than once).

The password field was set to disabled in the field element on the login page and internal links in menus weren’t working.

The only solution was to disable Jetpack.

I have several sites with Jetpack enabled, running the latest version, and do not experience this problem on any of them, so this is not purely a Jetpack issue, but an interaction between Jetpack and something else on your site.

If disconnecting and reconnecting Jetpack doesn’t work, please open a support ticket at https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support as @macmanx has also suggested to all the users in the other thread you link to.
