• I did the install, everthing was ok,
and then logged in as admin and was redirected to post.php
    i forced it to profile.php
and updated the details and changed the password
    then update ok
    but stays on profile page
deleted all cookies, even resetted safari
nothing!!! created another login – and log in ok – again nothing only that WordPress bookmarklet box thing
where are all the settings etc!?!?!?
I have WordPress 1.2.1 Mingus, Max OS X 10.3.6, Safari 1.2.4 and it’s installed on my webhost (fatcow.com)
I did a test installation a few weeks/months ago – probably an older wordpress version – i dunno – and that worked – but this time nothing
anyone help me out here becuase basically i can’t do a SINGLE thing with this wordpress right now!?!?
https://www.garionstone.com/diary is my installation directory – but it seems to have that ok in the wp_options table too
Thanks from a very frustrated person
    Cheers

  • “I did the install, everthing was ok,”
    Cool
“and then logged in as admin and was redirected to post.php”
That is correct – it assumes you want to write a post
    “i forced it to profile.php”
    Okay ………..
“and updated the details and changed the password, then update ok
    but stays on profile page.”
You probably just knocked yourself out of being site admin, so as a new user you are at level 1.
    Use phpmyadmin
    table ‘wp_users’
    Promote yourself to level 10

Ok will give that a go – just uploading phpMyAdmin to my webserver now – fingers crossed it works.
    <sidenote>
Mind you that doesn’t explain why when I first logged in as admin it dumped me to the post.php page with just the bookmarklet box. Is this a safari redirect problem or something???
    </end sidenote>

I don’t have a Mac, but default behaviour when you log in is to place you at the post.php page

Hmmm nope I looked using phpMyAdmin – admin user has level 10
    so that’s not it
    next guess?

The default destination once you login is always post.php. You should not have to force yourself to profile.php, there’s a button for it once you log in.

Ok I just nukes the install and the mysql tables and did a reinstall of wordpress
    NADA NOTHING ZIP ZILCH
    The WP-ADMIN does NOTHING!!!!
    All I have done is:
    1) unzip locally
    2) update wp-config.php to have my settings
    3) uploaded it using ftp
    4) ran install.php
    5) after 3rd step logged in as admin using auto generated password
    6) goes direct to wp-admin/post.php and shows NOTHING only the “WordPress bookmarklet” titled box
WHERE IS THE REST!? WHY IS IT NOT WORKING?
DO I NEED TO CHECK ANY OTHER PHP SETTINGS???
Sorry for the shouting but it’s 12:40am here and i’ve been fighting with this thing for hours and I just don’t get why it doesn’t work
    HELP!!!!!
    please
    cheers

oh yeah and i’ve changed NOTHING from the standard setup – i had changed the index.php and css but i did a total new install with the bog standard wordpress to make sure i hadn’t screwed anything up – although i didn’t touch the wp-admin bit at all
i’m on a mac – but it makes no difference what browser i use – safari or IE
