WordPress meets Yahoo groups type plugin

  • Hi.

    Does anyone know of a plugin that can do something similar to Yahoo groups while integrating with WP?

    Basically:
    – users can register to post to the group
    – posts are threaded (like a forum) and appear on the website/forum
    – posts are emailed to all (registered) members of the group
    – WP editors/administrators can manage group users and posts
    – dead easy to use

    BBforum and wp-forum do the forum bit well but users have to subscribe to each individual thread/topic.

    Reminds me, I have to update that list, or, just make a new blog post about it. I’ve wrapped my forums with the blog’s theme. Probably will release a copy of it then too! ??

    I also got the new Forum Categories enhancement added to it, but, it’s not into the core yet. It’s slated to be added for bbPress 1.0 though! I’m currently using bbPress .80Alpha at the moment.. I’m a SVN junkie lmao..

    Got a few things to customize, but she’s getting there!

    How can I bring a list of 2000 users stored in text file as emails into WP as users with Subscriber role ?

    1- How can I import my 2000 list of emails into WorPress and make them subscribed in batch mode (not entering one by one) ?
    2- How can we ask subsriber to select Categories of their choice
    2- What is the best Plug-in or other way to send daily the posted news per categries of subsriber choice?
