WordPress Menus

  • How do I keep site map hierarchy when using a custom menu page to show child pages. When I use a custom menu page so that I do not have a blank parent page, the site map isn’t hierarchical. All the pages show as one level.

    i.e. Menu of fruit (required site map hierarchy)

    >Fruit
    >>Apples
    >>Pears
    >>Oranges

    (No site available to view yet)

  • Hi,

    When creating a menu I supposed you have checked the pages you want to add to your menu. Then they appear in the “menu box” (on the right) in your admin panel.

    Try to drag and drop the child pages just under the parent page and a little bit on the right.

    Yes I have done that.

    If I asked you “How to use menu item so that I don’t have a blank page”, you would say use a custom menu link with a ‘#’ as the title, correct? When I do this the child pages then appear as the same hierarchy in the site map.

    Just for reference I’m using the page template for the site map, theme is “ThemeID: Responsive Theme”

    So basically how do I keep hierarchy and without having a nav menu item with a blank page?

    I really thought someone would have had the answer. Also I’m sure this has been required by many.

    I have found a work around, a plugin!

    I was trying to avoid yet another plugin, but it’s called
    “Advanced Disable Parent Menu Link”
