• I’m looking into developing a theme and customised CMS based on a theme, for example restaurants.

Is WordPress multi-site suited towards allowing users to subscribe to a payment plan that creates an instance of the bespoke starter theme for them to the manage via the custom CMS?

Similar to how Wix would work, but with one generic theme with a well developed customiser for them to configure it to their requirements?

    Any ideas?

No, it’s not. A multisite is just a collection of several WordPress sites running the same software as opposed to multiple copies of WordPress in different directories.

Just treat a site in multisite as a stand alone WordPress and develop from there.

    Hi Jan,

Thanks for taking the time to give your feedback.

My objective is to create a theme, and run multiple instances of it using all the same resources, just allowing the user to change the content and images etc for all the duplicated instances of the vanilla template.

I was thinking more so on how new sites could be created by the user using a front end shop front to subscribe, automating the manual steps required. Is there a solution out there already for this functionality, maybe I shouldn’t have referenced Wix, WordPress.com would be more appropriate as an example, I believe this was/is an example of WordPress multi-site. Heavily developed I can appreciate, but similar to what I want to achieve.

    Thanks again =)
