WordPress multisite and database problem

    Hello, WordPress multisite is a really nice feature, but we cannot have thousands of sites in the same database. This is quite worrying for server and website performance. I also learned that InnoDB has some limitations.

    The HyperDB plugin was used to split subsite tables into different databases, but this plugin support has now been removed. So why? Also I couldn’t really find any solution for this.

    Didn’t WordPress developers think that the database would really be a problem in a growing multisite network? Could you please share your advice on this matter?
