WordPress Multisite Domain Mapping Single IP Showing Wrong Site
-
Problem: When I point any domains A record to the IP address of my host to map to my multisite it maps to and displays one of my other wordpress installs. How do I get the domain dns or multisite to connect to the right install since they are sharing IP’s?
Here’s the breakdown:
-Shared hosting, hostgator with dedicated IP
-I have setup the multisite with domain mapping plugin installed following all instructions on https://ottopress.com/2010/wordpress-3-0-multisite-domain-mapping-tutorial/
-I have multisite setup to use subdomains
-I have setup wildcards for subdomains according to hostgators instructions
https://support.hostgator.com/articles/hosting-guide/lets-get-started/dns-name-servers/wildcard-dns-what-is-it-and-how-do-i-use-it
-I have pointed the domains A records to my hosts IP
-I have setup the subsite to have the primary domain set in domain mapping settings
-I also tried cname option but get same resultMaybe its better to just buy a separate host all together just for the multisite, not sure if that will solve the problem either.
I am not sure what else to try, maybe someone can help, I am even willing to pay for help instead of spending all this time trying to figure it out, if you can solve it let me know how to contact you to get it done. ??
