WordPress not detecting new versions

  • I have a simple WordPress installation through Bell Hosting (if anyone is familiar) which is currently displaying version 3.4.2. On my other (non hosted by Bell) installation WordPress notify’s me of new updates to keep things running smoothly and current. Yet, on Bell, it does not? I see certain plugins needing updating from time to time, but nothing for WordPress itself.

    Why would this be happening?
    Is there a way to force an update?
