    I’m running Mac OS X 10.4 on an iMac with PHP 4.4.7 and Mysql 5.0. I’ve gone through all the tutorials on the site, and elsewhere on the web, and I still can’t get install.php to give me anything other than the

    Error establishing a database connection

    This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    ————-

    error.

    My databases are running; php and apache are running (PWS); my users and passwords and database name and host all check out, but it’s still not working for some reason. Anybody had similar issues?

  • Exactly the same problem for me. I have tried everything over and over, no joy. I’m also running OS 10.4 Tiger on an iMac

    Somebody wrote steps to host WordPress on OS X servers 3 or 4 days ago. Perhaps, you may want to search WP Support for that.
