WordPress not sending password reset emails

    Hi,
    I’ve seen many other threads with this same issue, most just point here as the solution:

    I was not able to find a solution based off the info on that page.

    Here are the strange details of my situation. The site is hosted on bluehost, WP 3.9.

    Password reset emails are not being sent but the admin screen says “Check your e-mail for the confirmation link.”

    I installed the WP mail SMTP plugin and I can successfully send myself test emails with the “Send a Test Email” option.

    Also, I have gravity forms installed and I can receive admin notifications from form entries, but I never receive any notifications to the actual user email address.

    I’ve tried switching themes and deactivating all plugins but none of those things get the password reset emails to get delivered.

    I have wordpress@ setup as an email account on the host just in case, but still no luck.

    I’m unsure what to try next, we have dozens of sites hosted on Bluehost with the exact same settings and we’ve never had this issue before. Of course Bluehost says this is a WordPress issue.

  • I’m having similar issues with a site. I’m unable to get gravity forms or WP to send any emails. It seems to have started for me after updating to 3.9. But I’m not finding any errors which makes it hard to track down the problem.

    I have resolved this issue on my end. Apparently the site in question was hacked a while ago and subsequently placed on some spam email blacklists. So all emails from that domain were getting blocked by an outbound email filter. I got the host to remove the filter and now the site is sending password reset emails again.
