• HI,

I have a strange problem where WordPress won’t update on my MacBook. The changes are seen on my computer, but in reality it is not reflected on my website. So when I check from mobile, I can see that my post is not published, my plugins are not added or deleted etc.

So when I published a new post from another computer it got reflected.I can see it on my website. I tried other browsers, but has the same result.

I contacted Apple, did whatever they said to fix, updated to latest software. Now they say it must not be a problem with the MacBook, but WordPress.

And that post can’t be seen on Pinterest too (only from Mac). In fact, if I typed the link of the post on my browser on Mac, it fails to load. but I can view it from other devices.

I am at a loss of what to do. It was working fine, until I moved to another host. I don’t understand if this is a problem with the MAC, the host or WordPress.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I can’t work anymore due to this problem. Tried all the cache clearing too. Please help!

How did you do this move? And how recently? It’s quite possible that if you just made the move, then the DNS provider that your Macbook uses (which would probably be your ISP) just hasn’t been updated yet, and it’s still pointing the domain to the old host. If you haven’t already, I’d give it at least 24 hours for the DNS to update.

Alternatively, it could be the browser similarly caching the domain for the wrong host. Try a different browser on the same computer.

I moved from Siteground to Digital Ocean on 29th October. I had someone do it for me.

I tried from Safari, chrome and firefox. All show the previous version. Updates do not reflect on my site. And it’s only with Macbook.

Wordpress works fine on other devices.
I contacted Apple updated to latest software did everything I could do. I just don’t get it.

    Please help.

Hm, it is a strange issue. But I still suspect that it’s DNS related. Your computer probably still thinks your website is at the previous IP address.

One thing you can try is switching your computer to use 1.1.1.1, Cloudflare’s public DNS. They have a guide on how to set it up at that link.

Try that and then try accessing your website. If you start seeing the correct version then that lets you know that it was a DNS issue. If that does turn out to be the case, then it’s likely your ISP was responsible, for having a DNS that takes too long to update.

When you tested from a mobile device, was that over the cellular network, or Wi-Fi?

    Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion! I tried what you said but it didn’t work out.

But things took a turn now. I was trying to keep changing the settings inside wordpress editor by deactivating plugins, changing theme etc. from the devices where WP was working perfectly.

After switching to 2017 theme, I cannot revert back to my theme now. the wordpress editor shows the theme change, but the actual theme shown to the world is 2017. And this problem now is universal across all devices now, not with my Mac alone.

One theme in editor and different one on the site. What can I do now? Now it seems it’s not a glitch with the Mac.

And to answer your question, I tried from both cellular and wifi.
