• Hi guys,

I can’t get anyone on the phone or live chat with GoDaddy, so I thought I would try this..

I bought webspace without a domain with GoDaddy. My intention was to install WordPress, build the site, and then redirect my old URL to the new site when it’s done. I did NOT buy the WordPress-only package, but I installed WordPress with success via cPanel.

The problem I’m having: I can’t view, or log onto WordPress at all. Both the temporary domain name I made and the IP address are saying they’re invalid. I also can’t access any of the WordPress files through FileZilla when I log onto my GoDaddy directories. My ftp just comes up blank when I log in on FileZilla (if I go onto GoDaddy and log into the ftp, I see tons of files).

I feel like there’s probably something that I’m missing – like maybe I need to change a setting somewhere, or I just don’t understand how my temporary domain is supposed to work (I tried to “preview” my site via GoDaddy’s instructions, but it doesn’t work).

Thanks, hoping someone here will know, or have ideas! ??

    -Meg

  • That is a problem that really only GoDaddy can answer. It’s their servers, and their settings, and no one here ha any access or control over their systems.

Hi Meg. That’s odd that you weren’t able to get in contact with support, sorry about that. Here’s a link to the cPanel help page: https://www.godaddy.com/help/linux-hosting-cpanel

At the bottom you’ll see a link to chat with support. I just tried it and can confirm it’s working. Hope this helps!
