I want to install WordPress locally and access it from other machines on the same network. I have tested the network and it’s working perfectly (a simple html file is accessible on all machines in the same network).

The problem starts when I want to access my WordPress from different machines. The URL “localhost/wordress” or “talrasha/wordpress” works fine on the machine where WordPress is installed. But when I try to access it from a different machine with the URL “talrasha/wordpress”, it doesn’t work. If I enter just the URL “talrasha” on any machine, it displays the default XAMPP page which indicates that there is nothing wrong with my network.

Please note: I have tried this on 2 separate LANs. One is running Windows XP and the other Ubuntu. I’m using XAMPP 1.6.4. Both networks have the same issue.

    Hi adamrbrown,

Yes, I’m aware of that post but there is not solution for the problem. I have tried to switch Windows Firewall off on the Windows XP machines but there is not effect.

I was putting the link there so anyone responding would know to keep their responses in one thread–otherwise, you might find people duplicating their efforts by responding to both threads. That’s all. People can get a little frustrated by duplicate posts sometimes.

As for the topic at hand, I don’t know the solution.
