    Hi,

I’ve followed all the steps in this article for transferring a WP from one server to another…

    https://blog.triphp.com/how-to/how-to-move-wordpress-to-a-new-server-or-host.html

The IT person is telling me the following…

“It does not look like you configured the web server to execute from another directory. What you are seeing is the php code that is currently in the www directory now. You can test that if you want by removing the two php files from the www directory and you see that you get a error when you try localhost again.
The apache wep server defaults to the www directory unless you configure it otherwise. if you did not configure another location then your code must execute from the www directory.”

How would I configure the web server to execute from another directory? Shouldn’t he know how to do this as he built the web server (using Windows XP Pro).

He probably did not build it but installed it. Assuming it is using wamp as its server since he said the www directory. If you are using wamp this is a question on how to create a virtual host and not wordpress.

Place the wordpress in the www folder and forget about all the headache. You should not have to change anything other than setting up a database.

How would I know if he did not build it properly?
I believe he does have virtual host set up.

When you say place the “WordPress in the www folder” are you referring to my WordPress files? I put my WordPress files in a WordPress folder overiding what was already there.
