Hi, thanks in advance for any help offered, please be patient with me as I am not a tech person.

    Here’s the issue:
Had an old website on www.ads-software.com. love wordpress and the guys that host it for me.

Got a new website built by developer using nicepage, they now tell me that I need to host this on wordpress.com and pay for another company to host.

I made it clear from the start that I wanted to use WP.org and my hosters. Is there a reason why the developer is not able to do this? Am keen to avoid extra costs and don’t want to pay for a website that won’t work for me.

Looking forward to experts educating me!

    Hey,
as I can understand, You hired a developer to build a new website and he build a website and now saying it should be hosted on wp.com

Now please clarify a few things, does he finish the website and gave you a link to review it? if yes then where he is hosting this website? any idea?

    Thanks Vijay

Am not sure where it’s being hosted but when I search the website address, it comes up.

Should I add my website address here? Am just a bit worried if I could be directly identified through it.

How do I find that info otherwise?

Ok, Thanks for clarifying that. But he didn’t build the website using wp.com then nothing to worry about.

You don’t need to host on wp.com you can host on your existing hosting server or any other hosting server of your choice, you have the freedom to choose your hosting.

You can migrate the website from his server to your server using any migration plugin without losing any design and it will be 10-20 mins work. and your website will be live on your domain.

Your developer should know about the migration plugin.

Should I add my website address here?

If you’re comfortable then please share so that we could check where it’s being hosted.

    Thanks

    Thanks Vijay.

The main issue that I have is that I want to use www.ads-software.com as I have in the past and like you say, use my lovely hosting guys to do that.

But my developer says that to do this, I have to use wordpress.com and they are unable to put the nicepage onto www.ads-software.com. Is this really the case?

    Vijay Hardaha

    (@vijayhardaha)

Did they build a website using the https://nicepage.com/ app? If they did so, then they clearly didn’t follow what you asked.

however, here is a guide I found https://nicepage.com/doc/66707/installation-of-wordpress-theme-and-pages you can ask them if they can make it possible to migrate from nice page to your wp.org based websites.

Or there could be a case that they don’t have knowledge of the difference between wp.com and wp.org and they just normally said wp.com but they meant wp.org based website using your old hosting.

I am guessing this is the case here. You can clarify with them if they know wp.com and wp.org are two different platforms. and they meant to host the on wordpress using your hosting.

Hi Vijay, when I originally spoke to the developer, I explained that I wanted to use it via WP but I didn’t clarify that it was for org and not com.

So from what you’ve told me, there is no issue converting nicepage to www.ads-software.com?

    Vijay Hardaha

    (@vijayhardaha)

I don’t see any problem with nicepage and www.ads-software.com, if you’ll check the above link I shared it has a video related to www.ads-software.com, not wordpress.com

Vijay, you’ve been so helpful. I’ll go back to the developer this week, thanks so much for your time today
