  • Hi @eword3,

In brief, WordPress is a blogging software platform which now has diverse use for generic web development. WordPress.com owned and managed by a company called Automattic provides this platform for free and also helps you with building whatever you are looking to build. However, this comes at a cost of subscription of course. The other option is you download this software platform for free from www.ads-software.com and build whatever you want all by yourself. It would be your responsibility to manage and maintain your website/application.

For more information and a few more differences please read more about this on:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you are going the www.ads-software.com way then do take a look at the link below for recommended hosting options:
    https://www.ads-software.com/hosting/

If you are considering WordPress.com then hosting would be taken care by the team over at Automattic.

Once you have hosted the website, viewing content is just giving them your domain eg: https://www.mynewwebsite.com and if you are looking for them to post then you can add them as users to your website assigning them the correct permissions.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply! I’ve download a presspi image and i’ve flashed it on a Pi3! Make some changes to the config file to make it available on my homenetwork! Now i need to make it visible to others on world wide web! So, concluding this distro is .org? I need to pay bluehost or other provider to make it visible? Is that so?

    Hi @eword3,

Yes, BlueHost or any other Web hosting service provider will charge you a fee for maintaining your code on their hardware. The other option is to get a static IP from your ISP and host it on your machine itself but making it accessible to the rest of the world via static IP.

I would still go for a web hosting service provider as that would be more reliable and would take certain burden of hardware off your shoulders.
