    So I have just moved servers, the editor was working perfectly on my old server (wordpress was not removing any <p> tags). I moved to the new server by downloading the entire data via FTP, downloading SQL DB and then uploaded the data to the new server along with adding sql.

    Once I moved to a new server I started having this problem where if;

    1. I enter text in the Visual editor and save it the <p> tags are stripped.
    2. I enter text with line break (enter) in visual editor, move to text editor and see the text on two different lines but without any code (do not see any tags)
    3. I enter text in text editor, move to visual editor and the <p> tags remain (text is on two different lines, until I save it), moving back to text editor displays the text without the tags, moving back to visual displays the text joined (like: “This is the first line. This is the second line.”).

    I have tried the following, at one go;

    1. Disabling all plugins.
    2. Changing theme to Twenty Fifteen.
    3. clearing cache and cookies.

    I was still able to replicate the situation.

    Suggestions will be much appreciated.

  • Did you follow the relevant instruction in Moving_WordPress for this move?

    @esmi yes, I did. The instructions for “Keeping Your Domain Name and URLs” is what I did.

    Have you checked your server’s error logs for clues? You might also want to try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Let me try that and I will update you here.

    @esmi deleting the files and then reuploading them worked like a charm. Thank you!

    Glad to hear that you’re back up & running again. ??
