• Hello,

Please excuse my ignorance regarding wordpress, but I just need to clarify a few questions. I need to know that I am not going about this the wrong way…

I am just trying to setup a simple blog with an option to add comments for example.

1- Is PHP the only way I can edit my page to add a simple link to a comment page ?

2 – Is there a simple way I can tell wordpress to allow commenting on my page and for it to add the necessary input fields etc….??

3- Is there a way I can simply change the header image without going into low level code like PHP or do I need to learn the language before that can be done reliably ?…

All of this could be done so easily at wordpress.com but now that I am trying to host my blog independently as advised to do, I find myself struggling and wasting so much time by having to go through documentation and learning all sorts of coding syntax for the simplest changes !… There must be another way ?…..

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Boris.

    1. and 2. If you’re using a good theme (like the Default theme), checking “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in Settings/Discussion should be all that you need to do (unless you also disabled comments on the specific post(s)).

    3. That would depend on what theme you’re using.

For the most part, all three items are simple if you’re using the right theme. Many themes, including the free ones posted here, will allow you do those things without any code manipulation.
