WordPress running slow

  • Hi i am now to wordpress so would really appreciate some help. I have been asked to design a website for a friend, I have wordpress installed, hosting is through 123-reg the hosting is windows (unfortunately this was done before wordpress was installed).

    I am also using the siteorigin vantage theme, the problem that I am having is that the site is always running slow to load up and when I am in the wordpress dashboard trying to update the site.
    I have already done everything that it suggests on the 123-reg support pages such as optimise the database.

  • I took a look at the site and it seems that the server is just really slow to respond to the first request, around 10-15 seconds in my testing. If there’s no more optimization that your host can help you with, it might be worth looking into alternative hosting companies that offer better performance.
