• Hello,

We have a WP 3.5.1 multisite subdomain installation with 60 sites on it and domain mapping on several sites and multi-domains on several sites using WPMUDEV Domain mapping plugin and WPMUDEV multi-domains plugin.

WordPress SEO by Yoast has a sitemap feature built in. If that is active on a site will it conflict with activating the robots.txt sitemaps feature?

Is it advisable to do so?
Or should we just use one or the other?
Or should we / could we disable the sitemaps feature on individual sites?

I am not clear on how this all fits together.

    Thanks for any guidance.

    Phil D

  • I’m having this same problem and I’m not sure how to fix it. Yoast SEO doesn’t let me add or modify a robots.txt file and conflicts with the Multisite Robots plugin, so I’ll contact Yoast (if I can) since I’m surprised they don’t take into account multi-site robots files (which are difficult if they’re an actual file, and should be in the database).

@davehprohoods – Do you have any news on this issue? I have especially problems with the robots.txt for my main site in a multisite installation that uses the file option that comes with WordPress SEO by Yoast.
