• Hi WordPress-Developers,

I have the job to create a page where you can customize a product (very individually) and then buy it.

The customizing-feature can be done very good with WordPress. But the ecommerce-part (checkout, buying, …) could be complicated to program on my own. Now I need your opinion:

Should I use one of the hundreds of ecommerce plugins or is it also recommended to program my own small ecommerce module? What about security concerns?

    Thanks in advance

  • If this is just one or two products, the your can just sign up to paypal and put a paypal button on the end, that would give you the security as paypal deals with it all.

Really depends on your programming skills, and whether the price changes on customisation of the product.

I use cformsII linked to paypal to gather membership form information for a club, and then it links to paypal with an amount dependant on form information.
