WordPress site crashed, won’t come back up

Please rename the mentioned plugins folder to something ‘_plugins'(e.g. jetpack to _jetpack) and then try again. Most probably you will be able to see the site.

You need to find the .maintenance file in the wp-content folder(if it is still there) and then delete it. Now roll back the plugins name to its original name one by one and check which one is causing the issue. You will find the culprit.

ok, thanks. I’m not sure how to do that – can’t seem to find the files, so I will contact GoDaddy and see if they can direct me.

Thru your File manager on cPanel.

Update – the plugin issue is JETPACK! This is owned by WordPress? Here is the error –

The first error suggests that the Jetpack plugin was not fully installed (No such file or directory). Try deleting and reinstalling the plugin. It’s probably best to delete the plugin through the file manager (wp-content/plugins/Jetpack). After that let’s try installing the plugin by downloading it and unzipping it in the file manager to make sure we have all the correct files.

The second error suggests to be a PHP error. Does your host have a PHP version manager? If so, try changing your PHP version to the latest PHP 7.2.

Thanks! I deleted Jetpack, and oops, I forgot to download the plugin, so instead just clicked the button to install it, but it worked! Curiously, though, I do not see it listed in my Plugin folder on my FTP file manager, even though it is obviously there now?

I’m not sure about the PHP version manager – I see an index.php file, not familiar with where I would find this…

Hi, sometimes when you’re logged in it won’t update. If you refresh your FTP client you’ll see the folder there.

The PHP version is not something you can change through FTP. Does your host give you cPanel access? You should check if they allow you to change the PHP version first.

Ah, ok. I don’t have C-panel access. maybe I can ask GoDaddy to give that to me but since I don’t know how to use it, not sure it’s worth it?

Ah okay, you’re on their managed hosting which doesn’t come with cPanel. If I remember correctly their default PHP version is 5.6 and you can’t change it. Sorry ??
