Today I received email that new user registered on my Worpress site.Following that email, more email received with same message but with different email account registered. How is this possible when I haven’t added any user ? What caused this ? Is my site was hacked ? I am little bit scared . Any suggestion for this ?

Check Dashboard > Users – are there really new users created? Don’t trust what an email says. Don’t click links in the emails, login by going directly to WordPress.

If there are new users, what permissions level do they have? If it’s editor or admin, be a little scared. Before you delete them, make a note of their email addresses etc.

Then check Dashboard > Settings > General – is “Anyone can Register” ticked?

Below it, what’s the default role for new users?

Yes, users were created in dashboard and i have deleted all of them. Some had permission of Subscriber and some were editor. All email accounts were from same site like [email protected] . All email accounts were from sina.com. I checked it out, it is a chinese gmail like company. And i also checked “Anyone Can Register” it was ticked, that is my mistake. sorry but thank u ..it helped me…now it is unticked.
