WordPress site has no navigation suddenly

Hello. I really need some help. I am having a problem with a wordpress site I’m making. Everything was fine. I stepped away from it for a few weeks waiting for feedback on it and now the navigation is not working. My best guess (and I just noticed this) is that wordpress was updating automatically. I made the theme from scratch, so it concerns me that this could be a problem moving forward with this theme just by doing normal updates.

The navigation should be in the top middle. It seems like they are just not getting populated but I checked the menus area of wordpress and it all looks correct.
