WordPress site loads/request CSS JS multiple times

Try deactivating your plugins to explore whether any could be responsible. If none are, that would indicate it’s an issue with your theme. Which theme are you using?

I use the plugin “autoptimize” (spelled just like that) to handle CSS/JS combination and minification.

Minification plugins won’t necessarily work unless scripts and stylesheets have been enqueued properly.

Autoptimize doesn’t rely on the style- and script-queue, it uses the output buffer to extract CSS & JS from the HTML ??
