WordPress Site not sending emails

    A little over a week ago, I stopped receiving all emails sent form the site (fortunebaysoes.org). This is for all plug-ins from gravity forms to WP-Courseware, Email user – all of them. I have installed WP-Check Email and WP-Mail-SMTP. I have fiddled with the settings trying combinations, I have changed the reply to, disabled plug ins, etc. I also the twenty ten theme running. I get the Bool=true – I guess that means it was successful. Looks like everything is sent, but no emails actually go out.

    I host through ipage and contacted them, but they keep focusing on just the contact form and suggest that it is that plugin (Gravity Forms) – but it doesn’t help to uninstall and delete the plug-in. It still does not send emails from the other plugins.

    Is this a hosting issue. How to I explain this to them or what should I suggest they check.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • It does sound like a hosting issue.

    They should be able to check the logs to see if your website is even generating the email at the time it should be. If the site isn’t even generating the email and attempting to send it out, then that’s most likely a coding/theme issue.

    If there is some other error in the email log, then that may be the cause. A typical error could be the ‘from’ email address not actually being created on the account, and due to server restrictions the email sending is stopped.

    Thanks John – that helps in narrowing it down. ipage says they don’t have any issues. We created a testemail.php page and can receive those fine. So, I think we might comb through the code and see what we can find. I didn’t see any errors, but now I think that it where it is – I will focus in that area.
