• Hey all, I’ve gotten my WordPress site going which is cool, except one thing: why does it take over two minutes for either the actual site or the admin page to load up?

    I don’t have any plug-ins going.

When I put up my old HTML site, it loaded in less than a couple seconds. But the WordPress site takes more than 2 minutes. Is there a strep-by-step troubleshooting process to determining why the site is so slow? I tried using Firebug, but that seems to just tell me load up times, and the “culprit” pages are different anytime I try to reload a page.

    Thanks!

  • Try firefox addon Live Http Headers, which shows every little bit of data that’s requested.

Instal it, activate it (click) then from somewhere else on the web go to your site and see what it tells you.

Is your website being hosted on a shared server or a dedicated one?
