WordPress stops publishing my review
-
I have a bad review for a plugin because it doesn’t work at all. But WordPress does not allow me to publish my review.
When I try to publish it, I get kicked out to the forum.
What gives???

*Looks, sees*
Here’s the problem: you posted a support topic here.

Three whole minutes later you posted a 1 star review here.

Here’s the text you put into that review.
Not working. Simple as that.
Even though I set the email settings to send the emails to so and so email….That email is the ONLY email I have set up in my WP admin and user settings as well.
But still, not working….
PS: Please do not ask me for my site, because there is no way to check from the front end. The only way to check is to login and I would have to give you access….
All I can say is it’s not working for me when I test it. And if it does not work easily out of the box, then a 1 star is justified….(until it actually works).
Are you waiting for support or trying to use the review system to somehow coerce the plugin author to support you? Three minutes later really isn’t realistic, don’t you think?
Why not give these a read, they may help you leave a good bad review.

Please go through my previous reviews/thread history, and THEN, come back and tell me if I have been unreasonable or not, or I am a spammer etc….
Sometimes, when a plugin is rated very well (often by people who did not really test it out), the author gets lax. If I only posted a support thread, it could very well be days before I get any feedback, if at all. I don’t have time to sit around waiting days or weeks for a resolution. I just move on.
So, I thought maybe it’s stronger to leave a review as well.
In the case of that plugin, I too thought it was great – Until I tested it out.
And I know there is NO way in the case of that plugin to resolve it easily unless the author is willing to communicate very closely with me and I give him access to my site. Not likely.
It’s probably something to do with the way the plugin interacts with certain servers.
Please do not assume I leave a review maliciously. I could easily change my review to 5 stars if it works (and I do change my reviews) because I had high hopes on it and I assumed it worked without really testing it. So, guess what? I mistakenly used the plugin on several live sites, when it wasn’t even working….only to find out today.
Let’s start over shall we? ?? I’ll explain how I see your review and that is just my opinion. I’m not accusing you of anything and perhaps we can understand each other.
First things first: you can leave any review you like. The spam filter is a tricky system and it and only it understands why it makes the decisions it does.
Don’t try and read too much into an automated system.

I don’t assume anything. You left a support request (good) then three minutes later you left a one star review (not so good). That’s fine and you can do that. That is allowed.
How do you know that the issue is not caused by yourself, another plugin or your theme? Leaving a support request then jumping straight to a 1 star review really isn’t fair. You are saying essentially “Fix my problem then I’ll consider updating my review.”
Again, that is allowed but honestly, that’s not very nice.
You don’t give the author a chance to resolve your problem. If the author ignored you or responded badly then a bad review may be warrented. Just heading straight into a 1 star without even working with the author… would that encourage you to support you if you were the author?
Fair enough. But if you go through my review, I made sure I did not just leave it without any details for the author. I stated there what I did with the settings and options (there’s very few options for that plugin; it’s very close to plug-and-play).
If I left a 1 star in a huff, with just a one liner, then you might be right – I am unfair and my review would then come across as malicious.
So, I still think here, I am letting the author know that I am taking pains to explain my situation, and I am being very clear in my review. In fact, it was rather long. and if he can read between the lines, he *should* understand.
And I hope you do too ??
